Seascout-Net Mail Archive for September of 1999: Minto Rend.

The Minto Rend was a blast, 8 of us from Colorado went and showed up
the competion down there! Nobody better miss with the Colorado
Anhydrous High Altitude Fleet! (Ok, ok, so we didn't really show everbody
up, but we had a great time anyway.)
If anyone gets a chance it is well worth the trip to the Minto. The girl
Scouts put us up in one the best camps I've ever seen, A/C dinning and
staff area. Excellent selection of boats to sail and best of all a big
swimming pool, where everyone, of course, hung out to cool off. Also the
Sam Houston Area council Fleet had a great staff manning the event. The
judges knew their stuff and would even help out us land lovers if we had
no clue how to do an activity.
The best part is the floatila race. There you make a boat out of duck
tape, carboard, and platics. Now here is the challenge, get the boat to
float for two laps of the swimming pool. Fastest time wins!
Hope to see y'all there next year!
PS: we're going to have several photos on our web site soon from the Rend.
