Uniform Question - Need advice ASAP

I have a question about Venturing/Sea Scout uniforms I hope someone out there can help with.
I am the Advisor/Skipper of our Camp Staff Crew. We have a split of 40/60% scout/non scout registration (all the non-scouts register through us). Because of this we have alot of members to uniform for camp.
The issue is:
We want to go with a khaki shirt/green short combo, as to fit in with the rest of the staff, and to save money on uniforms since a few people will lend stuff out to the non-scouts all summer. Since we are a Ship, the youth feel that we can add Sea Scouts, BSA strips to the shirts, wear silver loops (camp staff = council employee) and Sea scouting insignia or Venturing insignia (still haven't worked that detail out) for positions, and then wear Sea Scout rank on the pocket, our ship patch on the sleeve under the flag and nothing else insignia wise.
My question is:
Is this an acceptable uniform in your opinion? I realize that Venturers aren't supposed to wear the tan shirt, but with replacing the BSA strip with the Sea Scouts one, does anyone see an issue? Also, would you reccomend a different short style, and if so, which (and please not the grey ones, the crew hates those).
Skipper, SSS Cricket
