I'm very please that Sea Scouts has come to the Smokies!
I graduated from Asheville High in 65 & also AB Tech. I wish there had been
such a program then. I'm involved here in SSS90 Chaser (90' diesel & 25'
Catalina sloop) as sailing officer.
What & where do you sail/motor? Have you boated across Fontana to explore
Proctor on Hazel Creek? Interesting wet/dry scout event.
I have fond memories of Hobie 14 hot laps on Glenville/Thorpe & visiting the
fine islands there.
A co-worker & I built an ice boat & sailed it on the little lake out North
Merrimon one very cold ('77?) winter. A Guinness-book event? I've got the
Times front page photo somewhere.
Congratulations on providing the program to the nosebleed Tarheels. I've got
family there, so hopefully I'll get back there soon & stop by to see you.
