My e-mail handle is not my own but the one the Skipper of my Life has
assigned to him.
I am a former Skipper - the first female Skipper of a unit after 48 years --
long time ago now.
I ran my co-ed unit in a traditional Sea Scout Way - Naval uniforms for both.
We did however, have to modify our uniforms slightly due to the fact the
former Skipper left us only with undress blues. Our crew came up with an
idea to make us look still like Sea Scouts by somewhat copying a the old
English Naval uniform for deck hands. The girls wore skirts they made and
the boys wore a different t-shirt with their uniform - but it worked and we
My hats off to any unit that follows a traditional format - wears the
traditional uniform (even if they have to alter it to survive until they can
get their hands on the real thing) -- THE PROGRAM IS WHAT MATTERS.
LETS ALL KEEP ON ONE FOCUS -- PROGRAM -- WE ARE TRAINING TODAYS YOUTH TO AID
THEM INTO BECOMING OUR FUTURE -----GOD HELP US ALL AS LEADERS -- Todays youth
are what yesterdays youth were -- respect of themselves and others and
discipline do leave a bit to be desired -- but isn't that part of what we as
adult leaders are to try to bring to them?
