Some thoughts on attendance(opinions)
Attendance = bait
Bait = program
Program = leadership
Leadership = discipline
Discipline = attendance
Adult run programs = lazy kids = no/slow advancement.
Most girls like boys and most boys like girls. Most who say they don't,
"Doth protest too much, methinks." Scouts learned this years ago, thus
You force, you lose.
The trend is what works for you. What is your goal?
My goal is to help young adults develop their best abilities. That may
not be marine related. I get them jobs may times at the expense of my
activities. Jobs instill discipline which helps attendance (believe it
or not). I resent high schools which see ONLY themselves as the sole
possessors of America's youth and thus feel its their constitutional
right to occupy 100% of their time. Of course many coaches feel the
same way and force kids to choose between sports. We're pretty far down
on the priority list.
As I see it, this a time for young adults to become experienced in as
much as possible so that they may see what's out there. It is not a
time for some adults to go on an ego trip to re-live their disappointing
All that said and done, we still have to do what we can with the time
someone else gives us.
After all it is THEIR life.
