I appreciate your suggestions regarding eliminating discussions of
"political issues" that effect the Scouting Movement, and also
suggesting that such comments be relagated to "rec.scouting.issues"
You further suggested that continuing such discussions is only
"preaching to the converted". With all due respect, sir, you have missed
A more common analopgy is "preaching to the choir" and if I may use
this example to make my point, I would suggest that very few choir
members would debate the magnificant beauty of Handle's "Messaih" or
"Kol Nadre". But the choir must know what notes to sing.
Few on our list would agree with the relentless assault on the values
embodied in the scouting movement. I would suggest, however, that many
on our list have no idea on methods or strategies on dealing with these
matters when they occur on a local level.
I believe that this matter belongs on our list and this, Sam, is my
point! I believe it is in accord with Bruces' very insightful rhetorical
question "What do you want to accomplish?"
I hope I have, at least, given reason to reconsider but never-the-less,
will most certainly conform to the wishes of the list.
