Need the assistance of he engineers out there (both profesional and
Albatross is thinking of installing a mast and boom to be used to lift
our tenders in and out of the water.
What we envision is taking a sailboat mast and boom and install it off
to the side (center won't work due to design of the boat)
Uses will be to lift our 10 foot inflatable (with or without its 8hp
engine) and a smaller sabot type rowboat.
Info we need: how high must the mast be to be useful, how big
(diameter). We plan on stepping it on the main deck, but using it on
the top deck (hope that makes sense). This way we will be able to have
support and will be a shorter run, allowing the boom to be shorter.
Space on the top deck is plenty, roughly 12 x 20. However deck is only
thin plywood (not meant for heavy traffic) this is the reason to mount
on the lower deck and cut through. Height between decks is about 7.5
feet. Really only need to figure height above the top deck.
Anyway, looking for ideas . . . shortly will be looking for the hardware
(mast and boom).
