Seascout-Net Mail Archive for December of 1998: Nametags
Fri Dec 18 21:31:43 1998
First of all, thank you to all that have sent comments on our new web
page. We will be changing some of the pictures as we get more.
Now onto the subject . . . for quite some time Albatross has used a
nametag in place of the "BSA" strip over the right breast. A few years
ago a very good counterperson at our local engraving shop suggested
adding our logo. (He should have been commended for "up-selling"!)
We took his advice and did so. Only problem is that the price has
steadly grown from $5.00 to nearly $12.00! Needless to say we have
since been looking at options. We have searched the internet as well as
our local streets for a better deal or idea. Several ideas have been
offered (do a bunch of "blanks", heat transfer, etc). But none has
really done much to actually decrease the cost.
This cost is passed along to new members via the new member fee. The
fee is set at $75.00 and gives them everything they will need short of a
dress uniform.(ships hat, ships sweatshirt, ships t-shirt, manual, all
patches, you get the idea) This way no running around trying to get all
Does anyone have a contact that can make nametags with a logo on them?
Would much rather spend the money with a supporter of Sea Scouting or
even an parent or scouter. We are thinking of doing blanks in bulk -
basic stuff that never changes, then adding the name locally.
Logo is displayed on our web page. (by the way, those are not clouds,
they are the Channel Islands! - everyone makes that comment)
