We are Lithuanian scouts and last year we celebrated our 75Th anniversary.
Briefly about us. In 1922 - 1940 when Lithuania has recently regained its
independence, Lithuanian sea scouts made a great contribution to the
restoration of Lithuanian navy, propagated marine idea. In the times when
Lithuania was becoming free from the Soviet Union, Lithuanian Sea scouts
had started their activities in early 1989. At present time we have Sea
scouts of different age groups, beginning from six-year-old children. There
are troops working in Kaunas, Vilnius and other towns of Lithuania, the
most numerous group is in Kaunas.
We have the rights of an independent territorial scouts subunit in the
structure of the joint organization Lithuanian Scouting that is a
member of WOSM, and the Sea scout programs department in the executive
governing body of the whole organization.
We posses a few old small wooden ships that can be used for sailing and
rowing, also some dismontable boats, inflatable rafts. Every year we make
many trips along Lithuanian rivers and lakes, camps and courses to develop
young peoples leadership, group skills and individual responsibility. We
help young people develop physically, intellectually, socially and
spiritually teaching them a code af living: Scout Promise and Low. A very
important fact in our organization is participating projects in development
of society, respecting the dignity of others and the integrity in of the
natural world, rights of children etc.
We would like to expand our possibilities and we are looking for
international and national partners for partnership in local and
international projects of socialization, young peoples problems solution,
courses for leaders, international exchange, etc.
