Chris Sokolov asked how we plan to organize our Venturers, Sea Scouts and
Unlike other councils, in our local council, we constitute almost the
entire Venturing program. There are a few Police Explorer Posts but only
one small Venturing Crew. Our Sea Scouts remain in the districts for
administrative purposes. Theoretically, we receive direct service from our
Venturing/LFL executive. However, that position is vacant. The V/EOA never
meets so the Wardroom (Skippers & Bosns Assn) takes up the slack. Service
is provided by Unit Commissioners/Service Team Members under the direction
of the Squadron Vice Commodore for Service. Also, I make myself available
to any Sea Scout or commissioned officer that needs anything.
So, here nothing has changed. We do our own thing and do it well enough
that almost all Venturing youth are in our squadron. We look great at
meetings too, in fact, the current photographs show us in the same formal
uniforms that were used in the past. :-) Our program, uniforming, training,
vessels, etc. works for us!!!
We welcome any Explorers and/or Venturers at our squadron meetings. We try
to provide something for them. We also include them in some of our
Sinnissippi Council Sea Scout Squadron
