Fellow Sea Scouters:
I received the following communication from Joan Groenendaal. If you can
shed any light on this, would you please respond to Ms. Groenendaal
dear commodore.....can you help me with information, or tell me who to
contact re the following:
my grandfather, arie groenendaal, while living in oswego, ny sold to the
chicago sea scouts his approx. 125' 2-masted schooner. it's name while
owned by him was "pinta" and was black with a red stripe. this sale
occurred early 1900's. he had bought it with the intention of running
freight in the caribbean. my grandfather said the ship had a history of
being a run-runner.
i have a photo of same docked near the oswego grain elevator which my
my family, for many years, has wondered whatever became of her, if she's
still afloat, in a museum or not around period.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
