Like you were are a all male ship. We routinely get names of girls

the Mariner Ships (Girl Scouts) somewhat close by. You may want to see
if this is an option for you.
With regards to your Council staff not knowing that you exist . . . you
must figure out a way to make sure that they are all aware of you.
Fortunately we are in a small Council and every staff member knows of
us, and most know my face or voice.
Start sending a representitive to every district roundtable meeting that
you can. Next time you order from the scout store (that is if you do),
place the order in person. Make an effort to have someone visit the
office on a regular basis. Invite the staff out on the boat or to an
activity (by the way . . .we recently invited a reporter from the local
paper aboard, and scheduled a quickie trip to Anacapa Island, we got 3/4
of the front page of section two, above the fold! Color pictures and
all! We got five calls and two members from this acticle. We now have a
live body at the paper to send press releases to)
The bottom line is that you must be visable. . . the down side is that
by becoming more visable, you might also make your self more vulnerable
(sp?) to any council greed for resources . . .
Fotunately we are supported pretty well by our Council and are even
allowed to accept donations and pocket (for the Ship) any procedes of
