Fellow Sea Scouters:
It appears that I haven't made myself clear. The discussion of
membership standards, homosexuals, athiests, and morality on this list is
now at an end. I appreciate that this is an important issue for many of
us, but we will not solve this over the internet. If it is your feeling
that BSA has taken an inappropriate tact in dealing with these difficult
issues, I would urge you to make your feelings known to your local council.
Every council has representatives to the national organization and they
are, if they choose, free to address this with the national office.
I am sorry if it is disappointing to some that we have not resolved
these issues here on Seascout-Net. This is not the place to do that.
While this list is largely unmoderated, it is the listowners'
responsibility to make sure that the list is a positive experience for all.
That has in the past meant that some subscribers' right to post to the
list has been taken away when they were unable to abide by the rules of the
list. We will not hesitate to exercise that responsibility now.
To reiterate, the discussion of membership standards, atheists and
homosexuals in Scouting, and morality are now finished. Let's move on,
