Re: Inflatable PFD's - Forwarded

I may have dated myself. When a vessel is carrying passengers for hire, (and
all sea scout vessels that I have been involved with were certificated under
subchapter T) they must have 1 adult sized type I pfd for each passenger that
the vessel is certified to carry.
In addition the vessel must carry at least 10% of that amount in child sized
type I pfd's, or 1 child sized PFD for each person weighing under 90 pounds,
whichever is greater.
In addition subchapter T allows for the carriage of type II III IV and V
SOSpenders makes and markets a USCG approved Type III automatic inflation PFD.
It has a manual inflate backup. I currently use one in my job.
I will double check in subchapter C (the rules for uninspected vessels) to
make a better informed recommendation for vessels that wish to only carry.
And for Eric from the City of Roses is Pat Kelly still involved with the
program? He used to be a reserve CG officer augmenting the CGC WHITEBUSH in
Astoria when I was there.
