Let us be Sensible and Return to Reality!!!

Many of us rural Sea Scouts and Sea Scout officials just gave up on the
BSA's Exploring Division "follies: We simply dropped the "E" and "Exploring". <G>
We just went back to the trappings and lexicon of our traditional program. We have
been able to prosper and no one has bothered us. It has worked well. The public
never stopped callling our program the "SEA SCOUTS". Our youth always use the term.
I suppose that is because it is only two syllables. <G>
Our local media. local supporters, our youth, their friends and
everyone else, including our Scouting professionals use Sea Scouting. I guess that
"the good will out!!!"
The national sea Scout Fleet Committee will have to request that the
National Council Executive Board allow us to get our name back. I'd like to see us
officially be what we are de facto, except for a tiny minority, now.
I would like to see Sea Rovers be an older, 21-26) youth program. Going to
Sea Venturer seems so much like the old communist system of calling thing wierd
names that bore no relation to reality.
Certainly, those of us busily labouring in the finance trenches would
hate to see our best chance to get our "household word" name back be PCd gain!!!
