You didn't say you wanted comments off-net, so here are my personal thoughts.
I don't mind being identified with them.
1. Make the formal name Sea Scouts again. It's shorter ( less expensive for
badges, etc.) and is more understood by the general public. While Ventures
may be understood in international scouting circles, I doubt the general
public would recognize the scouting connection. Public recognition is
increasingly important for councils in this day of competing for united way
2. Don't worry about everything being changed perfectly during this
transition. Actually, the formal name is the only immediate change needed for
ships (and many are already using Sea Scouts anyway.)
