Dear Mr. Johnson:
I am writing this message on behalf of my brother(Yavuz Durmus of
Turkish Seascouts) who you communicated by e-mail recently.
We are also a member of seascout's mailing list and enjoy reading comments
written from all around the world. We are particulary very happy to hear
Mr. Durmus and his unit's participation to this informative list.
Mr. Durmus asked me to forward this information about his unit to your
Below is the translation for your review:
Our Seascouts unit was established in a small providence in the Black
Sea region located in northern Turkey. This providence (Kdz. Eregli) is
only three hours away from Istanbul and is on shore of the Black Sea.
In our group we have two wood badge leaders, one male and one female(me and
my wife Fatma Durmus). We also have six assistant leaders and ninety male
and female scouts with their ages ranging from 13 to 18.
We as a group have participated in many national and international
activities such as 18th World Jamboree in Holland in 1996, Campdowne '96 in
England, Eurofolk'97 in Belgium and various international scout camps and
seminars. Our goal is to continue our active participation of the world sea
scouting activities in the future. We are currently inquiring information
for a possible summer camp in D.C. and New York area.
