This weekend, The Liberty Wardroom <http://www.explorer.org/liberty>
sponsored a rendezvous at Liberty State Park, in Jersey City, NJ. This is
the home of Ellis Island & a short ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty.
There was competition on basic seamanship & communications. Prizes were
copies of the latest edition of Chapman's piloting, seamanship & small boat
What started out as a Scouting activity turned into a positive public
relations event. Many of the families picnicking at the park had never
heard of Sea Exploring and had many questions about the program. Plenty of
prospective Scouts toured the SEA DART II, <http://www.explorer.org/sea228/>
asking where the nearest Ship was & how to contact them. Participating
were Ships 54 (NJ), 228 (NJ) & 243 (NJ).
