Canadian Uniforms are listed within the Bylaws, Policies & Procedures
(BP&P) of Scouts Canada, latest revision, Fall, 1996.
Basic uniform elements include:
- a tan/brown official shirt with Scout Canada strip, World Scouting
badge pre-attached. Shirt is available in long sleeved (youth) or long
and short sleeve (adult - male and female.) I believe the youth is only
male, but may be both. The main difference between the youth and the
adult is that the adult includes a pen holder in the pocket.
Cost: $about 30 for the youth and $35 for the adult.
- a navy beret (wool or synthetic equivalent)
- a beret badge (velcro backed) Green for Sea Scout (11-14) Pale blue for
Sea Venturer (14-17) or Red for Sea Rover (18-26)
- Epaulets. symbol is a double traditional anchor. For Sea Scouts, they
may also include double bar for Crew Leader/Watch Leader/Patrol Leader or
a single bar for the assistant. Colour choices are: Navy blue on white
for Sea Scout, Yellow on pale blue for Sea Venturer and Yellow on red for
- Scarf - either National or group supplied
Cost (National) $7?
- Sash. Red with colour bars indicating section. Optional for Sea
Venturer and Sea Rover sections as all badges can be placed on the uniform.
Additional elements are the same as land based units, including:
Provincial, regional, district, area and group crests. Link badges.
Service bars. Scouting awards. Program badges. Agency awards.
Religion-In-Life award. Occasionally, Sponsor crest*
* The only organization in Canada which I know of having a sponsor crest
is the United Church of Canada.
