This is perhaps one of the most perplexing problems we face.
Due to the diverse fleet and wide experience levels that are common in Sea
Exploring today a ' blanket ' standard or per foot rate would be difficult.
Some boats and people are simply greater risks than others. Excellent qoutes
can be gotten if you use an insurance carrier that is familiar with and does
a lot of
fleet or commercial craft; they tend to be more understanding and realize you
are serious about your boating. A good, current
survey is a must. The rate can be improved further if you ask for a special
rider than excludes personal injury/liability.....
we are already covered by BSA. Obviously the people then placed on your boat
should fall within proper guidelines. Check with USSailing as they are
accustomed to insuring training and school programs. I have yet do call USS
as the tack outlined above has netted a very good rate. With proper pleading
a payment plan can also be arranged. Avoid the typical recreational/pleasure
boat arrangement. Many will not not even quote as soon as they hear BSA. Our
premium is concidered very by all standards - go commercial. good luck!
