Actually what happened, was that the National Committee viewed the drawing,
but did not see the metal until it was done. When the next batch is done,
what you suggest could be done. I agree with you and I was on the National
Committee when it was done. However one problem is that the National
Committee wants Quartermasters to get the medal free. They must raise the
money to do this or it goes no national supply. We know what happens when it
goes to national supply.
Last time one of the members of the National Committee came up with the bulk
of the money.
I guess the bottom line is, put your money where your mouth is. I don't mean
any disrespect by that remark. But if you feel strongly about this change on
the metal, then come up with a way to raise the $5,000.00 we need to mint 100
more medals and I could say it would be a sure bet that your change would be
