Mark, our council has a public service band liscense (easy
to get and cheap) and some Motorola handi - talkies that we
use for such events. The advantage is that the staff is
not nailed down. That is, the chairman can circulate, keep
track of things and know that if something needs immediate
attention the word will come quickly. Similarly if you
have 3 Scouters at the tent raising event, and two no shows
at archery you can move the folks arround quickly.
Over all, I like having the radios. If they are used
correctly, they are silent most of the time, but when you
need them they are there. Sort of like first aid kits.
