While *officially* you may because you hold the position of Committee
Chair, *realistically*, you
should not to avoid questions down the line. You can have the Vice Chair,
or a member of the Committee temporarily appointed as Committee Chair to
approve and sign the application.
As a unit Scouter, I always avoided approving my own applications; I could
always find another Scouter
from the unit to sign in my place. As a Commissioner, I tried hard to keep
from signing my own unit's
Quality Unit applications over the years...it wasn't always possible, since
in one situation other Commissioners didn't want to sign off on units they
have not supervised (and in one other case, the District Commissioner
resigned and we didn't have a DC until I volunteered to hold the position
for what I thought was a four-month tenure!).
