You're absolutely correct. But, knowing that:
1 - there currently isn't even a minor candidate who truly embodies the
ideals of Scouting or the ideals of this nation and
2 - one of the two evils will win anyway,
there is only one reasonable way to vote -- vote for the lesser of two evils.
A vote for anyone else (my dad would do a very good job) is simply
ineffective. It's sad, really sad, isn't it?
Every evil or tyrannical government in history has been built on the
foundation of good men and women (the majority) who did nothing. I'm not just
talking about Stalin and Hitler. We have many politicians in this nation who
are eager to deprive us of God-given rights -- and use our own tax money to
To protect our rights and freedoms, we must do our duty to our country (Scout
Oath) and be involved in our political process. We must teach our Scouts to
do the same. That doesn't mean we indoctrinate our Scouts on specific
political ideology, but we do need to teach them good citizenship (I think
there are a couple of merit badges about this) which includes an
understanding of the political process and how to influence it for good.
