Well, I never thought that I would ever, ever come down on the
side of "slowing down" a scout's advancement, but I have to
wonder what's going on when 10 10 1/2-11 year old boys all
manage to finish all of the scout, tenderfoot, second class,
and first class requirements in only five months.
I wonder, for example, how each of these boys independently
planned a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu and helped cook
that menu. By my reckoning that would take 10 campouts, or
five campouts if they are in two separate patrols.
For second class requirement 2b, each one of these scouts
is supposed to independently select his patrol's campsite.
Note that it's not supposed to be a "patrol" decision - he
must do it alone.
This must be a super active troop to get in 10 non-meeting
activities in 5 months.
How many Webelos crossed over in March? Are they all
advancing at the same rate?
I'd certainly like to hear from the SM on this one before
I blasted him for unfairly "slowing down" these boys.
