while I am in a training mode and thinking about training, I have a question.
we call the basic course--adult leader/Scout leader/ basic training.
when we get into the course, great emphasis is placed on the concept that
the SCOUTS are to do the leading, that the adults are there in an advisor
capacity, and unless the kids are going to make a serious error, that
involves safety issues, basically, qwe make an effort to let them make the
mistake and help them figure out what went wrong.
that said, why do we call it leader basic training? wyy not advisor basic
trainoing? adults who work with the Venturing program are called advisors.
why not the rest of us?
