Instead of buying something, why not make him something?
One thing we do is a photo board of his Scouting history with the troop.
We use photos from his entire Scouting career showing him growing from age
11 to his current place in time. We have a lot of 17 year old Eagles.
We call it his "Scouting Journey". After all, Eagle is not a destination,
it's a journey. It presents a photographic chronicle of his Scouting
adventure over the years.
It serves as a great prop during the COH, the younger boys enjoy seeing
what the current Eagle looked like when he was a Tenderfoot, and at the
conclusion of the COH, the new Eagle takes his "Scouting Journey" home
with him as a great keepsake.
It's a personalized and fairly inexpensive gift to make for the Eagle
Scout, and usually contains some funny and great memories for everyone to
remember and celebrate. The families really appreciate them.
