anyone out there got any experience with cooking with a thermos bottle. my
first experiment was, well, interesting. I tried Rica A Roni- herted up the
prescribed abount of water, added the seasoning and oil and dumped it into
a thermos jug before I went to bed last night.
upon arising this morning, it was definitely done; this rice was definitely
cooked, practically turned to mush! part of that may be the amount of time
it was left in the jug.
I would appreciate hearing from those who use this method for cooking hard
to prepare stuff like rice.
I know this may not be ideal for extended back packing trips, but I think
it has some potential for things like our canoe trip where we have no
portaging, short ovwer night camps, or? for sure, it eliminates the problem
of getting the rice properly cooked and allows a whole different type of
food to be readily used--rice. you set it up in the morning before hitting
the trail/water, and by lunch it will be ready for you and still hot to
--- "If you build it, they will come."
