of asking this young lady not to participate on the trek, is there some
way she can go without violating the Guide to Safe Scouting requirement
"Coed overnight activities require male and female adult leaders, both
of whom must be 21 years of age or older."? Is this a 24/7 requirement
under these circumstances?
Please, no flames. No 3 G's rants. I need helpful advise.

On the face of it, the rule might seem to apply 24/7. However, a couple of possibilities occur to me. One, look at the possibility of having the young lady's family depart and return at the same as the adult female. Perhaps for this portion they could be a family trek that parallels the troop trek. Second, if the departure is only during daylight hours, I would argue that the G2SS is not violated, because the plain language of the rule applies to "overnight activities." Either way, IMHO, you would be complying with the rule. If you have any doubts, you may want to seek advice from your DE.
