I'm addressing this to all in Scouting.
Last week I reported on the passing of my Dad, T. Arnold Everson, who was
active in the Staten Island Council and a vigil honor member of Aquehongian
Lodge 112. At the Wed night viewing, 5 vigil honor members from Lodge 112
arrived to place a sash on Dad and offer a prayer- which they presented to
Mom in a frame. This in the presence on 5 sons who are eagle scouts and one
eagle grandson- all OA members. One of the vigil members was active with me
on the elections committee in the mid 50's; one other was Mom's first den
chief- must have been in the late 40's. The next day- when the casket was
sealed for burial- we elected to leave the sash on Dad since Scouting was so
important in Dad's and Mom's life.
You were very much in our presence and we appreciated it.
(BTW- Mom's younger sister(80) died the day after Dad- so Mom was able to
attend both wakes since she was in the room across the hall from Dad. She is
holding up well)
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
