Years ago, we learned to write letters which weren't offensive. My
recollection was that the old-fashioned type of letters were usually less
offensive than speech. It isn't just the body language that makes the
difference, but the effort on the part of the writer to make sure the
language isn't offensive. Perhaps we should all review our e-mail a bit
more carefully before we push the send button.
