Re: Junior Leader evaluations
Sorry Chuck. But I have to disagree. I think boy leaders do need some
kind of feedback and evaluation of the job. This should be an ongoing
process, but in my request for help (which still stands), I was looking
for some written documentation for each new boy leader as to what is
expected of them in their newly s/elected position of responsibility. I
am not suggesting that we should expect perfection. And I am not
proposing some sort of report card. And, thank you for asking, we do
have a very strong and growing boy run program that I have no doubt will
thrive for many years to come.
It is as you point out a learning process. However, that learning
process also includes the ASPL, who is responsible for overseeing the
other youth leaders. And unfortunately, as we have all seen, there will
be some boys who only accept the position in order to wear the patch for
6 months and get credit for 'time served' without actually doing or
learning anything. All I am hoping for is some program helps such that
the ASPL and SM have some tools for keeping track of this process of
leading, serving and learning.
Like all of us, I too am 'learning' how to do the job (and always will
be). I for one appreciate the feedback. How else will I truly learn
how to improve?
