If the friend is not currently a leader, and it's a family camping trip,
I don't even know if YPP applies.As best as I remember,it's a policy for
leaders, not parents. If it applies to parent substitutes as well, strictly
speaking, I couldn't have my sister pick-up my son from a meeting (they'd
be alone in the car). If it does apply, then it should definitely be
loosened up. I know too many single mothers who don't feel comfortable
going camping with a mostly male group, and depend on uncles and
grandfathers to do Scout things with their sons. The policy would apply just
as much to uncles, grandfathers and older brothers as it would to
stepfathers and mother's boyfriends.
