Well, dear Friends, I am off to summer camp again as camp Scoutmaster
(SA and DC in 'real life') after not having done so for nearly ten
Being semi-retired from the active practice of law, and no longer
employed as a full-time City Attorney which precluded active
participation (too many evening conflicts), I am leaving for camp in
two hours with ten boys in tow. We have an older group that is
employed for the summer and not going, except my SPL wangled a week
off from work to go with us.
As my SM is in his busiest season, he is not going. I have two
parents that are splitting the week as second adults.
Since I am also District Commissioner I will be taking time to say
hello to old friends and make new ones among the unit leaders from my
District and elsewhere.
And a week to relax with good boy leadership and camp staff dealing
with the day to day. Have taken three mind-stretching books to read,
one on wilderness medicine, one on New England Indians, and a novel
that is auf Deutsch. To keep forty-year old German alive I try to
wade through at least two German novels a year. I promised one
cobbler plus as many others as someone's parent sends along materials
for. The camp cooler will be available for the chili fixings I have
