scouts-l Mail Archive for July of 2000: Scoutmaster Conference for your own son

Background: Early this year, the SM of our troop submitted his resignation
effective Dec2000. I was asked around Mar or Apr, because of my training
and background, if I would like the position. After some consideration, I
decided to accept. It now appears that the time to assume this new role
will be sooner rather than at the end of the year, maybe as early as Sep.
My question: How do SMs handle a SM conference for their own sons? I know
that a parent committee member doesn't or shouldn't serve on a BOR for his
own son but what about the SM conference? Does anyone designate an ASM for
the task? Does anyone do the conference themselves? While I have some
ideas already, I'd be interested in feedback on both solutions, positive and
negative. Personal experiences and war stories will be accepted.
