our district was split almost 2 years ago. the training staff was left
combined to help keep the SMF course going. my understanding was that this
was to be a temporary measure, tho no time limits were set for each
district to get its own staff going. this split happened almost two years
ago and we are still going with combined staff.
I am not up at the district level, so I do not see all the complexities (if
any) in this situation. that said, I do not think remaining with a combined
training staff is doing either district any favors in the long run and feel
that the district training staff should part and get their own seperate
staff up and running. the planned fall course will require partricipants
and staff to travel MUCH farther than in the past and already some past
staffers have indicated they will not participate because of the travel
requirements. I suspect that potential class members will have the same
the district commissioner feels that the training staffs should be
seperate. I have e-mailed the district chair with my concerns but not yet
heard back from him. our district training person is going with the
combined training this fall, but I do not know if this is out of desire or
because it has been this way in the past.
your thoughts/suggestions on this situation and how to "correct" it would
