For Reptiles and Amphibians requirement number 8 reads:
"Maintain one or more reptiles or amphibians for at least a month. Record
the food accepted, eating methods, changes in coloration, shedding of
skins, and general habits; OR keep the eggs of a reptile from the time of
laying until hatching; OR keep the eggs of an amphibian from the time of
laying until the transformation of the tadpoles (frogs) or larvae
Our summer camp is in Michigan and state law prohibits (or so they told the
entire camp) the touching or capture of wild reptiles and amphibians. I am
assuming that must include the catching of tadpoles. Should this
requirement be altered for our summer camp? Even the first requirement of
"keeping for one month" implies a wild animal. If the animal was acquired
at a pet store, then releasing it after a month would also be improper.
That would alter the requirement for keeping it until at least a new owner
could be found.
What do you do when the requirement and the law (other policy) conflict?
