Ah, summer camp and eating. I can hardly wait, I go in two weeks.
I don't know of a parent that would allow their child, at home, put 8 to 10
spoons of sugar on their cereal. I certainly wouldn't and in my presence,
the youth are expected to behave, this includes at the meal table.
If the youth says this is the way he behaves at home, call his bluff.
Schedule a meeting with him and his parents, let him tell you, in front of
his parents, that he is allowed to use that much sugar, or mix all of his
Recently, we had an outing and one younger scout was using language that was
not appropriate. He thought the older boys would be more accepting of him.
Well, the older boys did not think it was right and hesitantly reported to
the SM, not wanting the younger scout to get into trouble, but wanting the
language to stop. After much consideration, we talked to the young scout's
parent and advised them of what happened. Once again, not to get the scout
in trouble, but to have the parent say something to his son that his
behavior would not be tolerated. Remember, I've got summer camp coming up.
