Let us not get wrapped around the spindle on whether or not it is less or
more dignifed to remove the canton of the flag before burning the pieces.
Burning the whole flag and various and sundry parts of the flag in secions
or all in one piece meet the Flag Code's letter and spirit. The American
Legion's approach is fine. So is simply have 1,2,3, or 4 scouts place the
flag directly on a roaring fire or having the flag on a stick placed into
the fire, even having a number of flags stacked together and lit off
together or one by one. They are all dignified and meet the requirements.
There are as many ways to accomplish the intent of the Flag Code as people
orchestrating the ceremony.
In Egypt a common expression meaning "OK" or "Move on" is "mesh".
