Has anyone participated in any supplemental training for Junior Leaders? Our
Boy Scout RT Commissioner has expressed a desire to develop a monthly
training session that would serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas,
ceremonies, activities, etc. among the troops in the district.
We all know how units can sometimes get bogged down doing the same things the
same way year after year. This would be an attempt to keep things newer,
fresher, and more interesting for the boys. The sharing of the strengths of
other units in the district could only help.
She expressed a concept where the meetings would be initially run by adult
trainers and, as soon as possible, be transformed into a boy run forum with
adult staff present, or nearby, only as a resource.
The initial target audience might be the recent JLTC grads and ultimately boy
leaders from every unit in the district.
If anyone has experienced anything like this, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
