My question is do I continue to let the assistant senior patrol

I've thought about both sides of this type of deal, and if I were you, I
wouldn't change my plans. If the SPL decides to throw a fit, I'd let him be
an additional assistant, but NOT in charge, as he wasn't in charge when you
submitted your leadership list to the Council when you registered for camp
(assuming, of course, that your Council requires a list of Troop leadership
positions when you sign up for Summer Camp, as mine does). As of the time of
your post, he hadn't paid for camp yet, either, which is another strike
against his being in charge.
Just some thoughts.......and opinions. As a new Scoutmaster myself, I'll be
glad to receive flames and criticism from the list.
