A BIG part of a scout's leadership experience is learning consequences -- of
choices, of plans, etc. The consequence of his original choice not to go
was that the rest of you needed to plan an alternative. If you put him back
"in" at this late date, you leave him without a valuable learning
experience. This may feel like a lose-lose situation, but discuss it with
him emphasizing the opportunities to learn from this for the future and it
may turn into a win-win.
