I posted this to my troop's parents by eGroup, thought I would share it
During a Scoutmaster Conference Monday night, I was reminded of how
the boys see things in a different light from adults.
I asked the new Scout who was having his first SM conference, "You
say the troop is fun and all but what could be better?"
The Scout thought for a second and replied, "It's summer and there is
no school, couldn't we have troop meetings every weeknight?"
We have come a long way in 27 months and the now Older Scouts and
their parents have a lot of accomplishments to be proud of even
though we are still two to three years away from being a mature
troop. That's when our founding Webelos will be the oldest and all
younger Scouts will have been taught by them. These founding boys
will have been the Leadership example for all the others and our
major traditions will have been established.
Just thought I would share this very warm fuzzy moment!
PS See how great my job is!!!!
