I was a Girl Scout leader. So was my wife. We went camping with our
daughter and other girls and other adult females. No particular problems
and no complaints by our local GSUSA council.
As far as taking girls camping with only male leadership, I believe that is
contrary to GSUSA policy although I am not sure. However, in today's
political climate, a man would have to be the village idiot to take girls
camping with only male leadership. It is screaming for complaints or worse.
BTW, I believe that taking a Boy Scout Troop camping with only female
leadership is not contrary to BSA policy. I think that it is not a
particularly good idea particularly if it is a routine thing. But, I
believe it is not forbidden. That reflects the different political climate
of girls with adult males versus boys with adult females.
