We just returned from Summer Camp this morning (out of council).
I did not attend camp, but as Advancement Chair, I am updating the boys'
records. Apparently, this camp taught the Camping MB out of the now
defunct MB pamphlet, and not according to the requirements in the 2000
Requirements Book, which we all know takes precedence. Now for the
question: Has anyone run across this situation before, and besides
complaining to the Council in question, how should this be handled, when
the boys took the class in good faith, depending on the knowledge of the

opportunity to model a positive attitude in the face of a disappointing
surprise. Put a positive spin on it. "You guys have learned some good
material. Good work! Now, what is the best way for you to finish the
requirements (x,y,z) that they weren't able to give you at Camp
And next time-- take your current requirements handbook and when you make
your early-in-the-week rounds of the MB classes your kids are in, make sure
they're using the current ones. If you catch them by Tuesday, you can
probably have them correct it and finish appropriately by the end of the week.
