The Order is a thing of the individual. I might have an idea of the
path that I would like a young man to take, but that's not my decision.
Every Lodge has members (yes, they are still members) who never show up
again after their Ordeal. We wish it was otherwise, and we work to
overcome this, but ultimately, each member has to determine his own
relationship to, and activity level in, his Lodge. It's not for us to
keep them out because we fear they won't be active enough.
Who knows, these inactive Scouts might end up like me; not very active
as a youth, sucked back in as an adult; yesterday I couldn't even spell
Lodge Adviser and today I are one!
