I was an advisor to an Explorer Post thats career specialty
was computers. We repaired and refurbished donated PCs and
then gave them to troops and packs for whatever troops and
packs used computers for:-)
At a regular meeting, one of the young men cut his finger on
the sharp edge of a PC case. We cleaned the wound, applied a
"Band-Aid" and continued with the meeting.
Later that night when "young lad" arrives home, dad decides
to take him to the hospital emergency room for a tetanus
shot and a radical cashectomy :-)
At the next meeting, dad asked me for the number of the
insurance agent for the BSA accident insurance. Dad, you
see, remembered something about the $7 membership fee and
"insurance" that the DE had said at a Post "Parent's Night."
Anyway, I referred him to the Council office.
He got some forms and filed a claim for the emergency room
visit - after all it, was an "accident" and happened during
a Scout activity.
AFAIK, the claim was paid -- at least I never got any
further comments (or complaints) about the incident - or the
