When I asked this question about 6 weeks ago, I also got requests for
summaries of the responses. Due to a busy life and the fact that I
dumped lots of emails when my brother-in-law sent me the LoveBug, I've
had to retype the responses instead of cut-and-paste. I've finally
retyped them, and my thanks go out again to those folks who sent them to
The overwhelming response was 'a comfortable chair'!
Extra blue cards
A large bag of assorted hard candy to be used for rewards during the
evening review of skills/lessons learned.
Lots of extra rope for lashings, knots, camp gadgets. Also take your ax
Backpacking stove (for advancement purposes)
A few 5-gal coolers for water and bug juice
The troop first-aid kit
Extra merit badge books
Cracker barrel supplies
Flag and flagpole/spar to practice raising and striking the colors each
Spare flashlights and batteries
Extra toilet paper and soap
And, since the older boys in our troop are going to Seabase and the
younger ones are going to Council camp with me, it was suggested that I
start my own medical book. This would contain both a current medical
form and a newly signed generic authorization treatment form. Give
copies of these to camp staff upon arrival, keeping the originals for
your own records.
Hope this helps. As for myself, as soon as I get our Eagle Scout
graduated from high school in 2 weeks, I'll be busy accumulating camp
gear in all corners of the house!
