I have already replied to a couple folks directly . . .
A while back - we were told that the reason that BLOOD drives
would no longer be accepted - was NOT only the leadership issues
already expressed - BUT - more significant was the potential
liability risk that could be associated if a disease was transmitted
by blood collected at an Eagle project. A few years back,
there were a number of different diseases that could be
(and were) transmitted via blood. From recent promotions from
Red Cross blood mobile programs - improved testing has pretty
much reduced the threat - but it is still not 100 percent.
SO - I would also check with your council leagal people to
see if there is a leagal (liability) issue for your council.
Some states have passed laws that limit the liability in
such cases - others have not as yet done so.
