scouts-l Mail Archive for May of 2000: National Jamboree Staff
Thu May 25 2000 - 08:19:25 CDT
I've submitted an application for National Jamboree Staff for next year
through channels. About a month ago I received a post card from National
that reads: "Your National Scout Jamboree application has been received at
the National Office. You will be notified if you are assigned to a
position. Thank you."
My questions are:
What is the procedure at this point? Is the application forwarded to the
areas that I've expressed an interest in working in?
What amount of time will likely pass before I hear anything?
In answer to your first question, "Wait." To your second, "Maybe."<G> The
idea of "Use your resources" seems to have penetrated imperfectly at the
higher levels <G>. However, it is entirely likely that you will, in fact, get
one of your top choices.
As to your third question, the answer is, "Known but to God." Some folks
heard within weeks, some within months. Time is getting shorter, though, so
maybe not too long. Well, any wait can feel "too long!"
Anyone with interest in National Jamboree, as staff, registrant, contingent
staff, or curiosity alone, is cordially welcome at the Jambo01 list, where a
plethora of bad jokes, useful hints, and problem-solving peculiar to the
needs of Jamboree are up for grabs every day. Meet some cool people, too. We
have a reunion... behind which Trading Post? I forget.
<email@example.com> will get you subscribing info which I am ashamed to
admit I have lost. (Though maybe another helpful someone will post it.)
